I really think all of the USC parties were so delusional, that Garrett was able to convince the entire department that they had the damage under control.
Maybe I am being deceived, but I just don't think Pete is that smart.
I recognize that Saban's situation is different but the Bama job is the type that can really grate on a coach, especially one that's not a southerner who is enamored with all the other parts that come with the gig (i.e. the football religion culture). And unless he churns out a couple of more titles, he'll always be second to Bear Bryant.
Maybe, I am biased but I think Saban's got a big ego. Don't get me wrong, I think his style is much more suited to the collegiate game, I just think hubris can get the best of this guy.
Although, if he's smarter than I think, he'll be in Tuscaloosa for a while. I just see him as pretty nomadic, even if his history suggests that all of his moves have been very logical.
