Now that I'm back to stable internets....

Urban gets a 5 from me, if only for the fact that I spent most of that night completely cracked out on original formula Sparks brand energy malt beverage (key ingredient: vodka packet), convinced myself that I had gone blind, and proceeded to thrash uncontrollably until I was too exhausted to hate.

Its relative, and you asked me to go back to that specific point in time. Urban was considered a no-doubter. Not just by NDs flying circus. The accepted story is that Foley had him in hand mid-season to avoid any offseason shenanigans/seal the deal. There was enough there. He had the pedigree and enough experience in the lower ranks to step up to the power conferences. There were doubts his offense could run in the SEC, but it was widely agreed that any program would be happy to give him the keys.

I put Kelly at a 5 as well, for different reasons. I feel the trajectories are similar, but Brian was considered the best possible, available name out there last winter.

The only clear cut 5 is Saban, and I think that's where you are going with this entire exercise. The universe of no-doubters is extremely limited. It's easier to find the next Tim Tebow, Cam Newton, wonderkind than it is to find a messiah coach, if only because you get to draw from a much larger pool.
