After getting shunned by Les Miles, I felt like Michigan was truly scrambling and took whoever they could get.
At least with Weis, I thought ND had somewhat of a plan (a successful OC who could install a sophisticated offense and ensure ND's tougher academic requirements were a true competitive advantage). It didn't work, but I felt like it was a reasonable gamble.
