I guess I don't see how Meyer rates higher than Kelly.

Historically, UC has been a much worse program than Utah, and it wasn't like the Utes were a total mess when Meyer took over. Ron McBride went 8-4 just a year before his dismissal. BGSU and CMU are about comparably woeful.

If Meyer had an edge, it's that he seemed to be more successful right out of the gate at each stop, but I would say that Kelly's additional head coaching experience and success at GVSU more than makes up for that.
