I'm sorry. It makes no rational sense.

Everything but the new allegations was known when he was running in the primary but was covered up or downplayed or pooh-poohed by his progressive backers because he fit the mold and said the right things - no vetting was done and when things started leaking out the backers just trumpeted his progressive "credentials" because there were no accomplishments to speak of. But all of those other things - tattoo, job, house, relationships with women throughout his life - were enough to sink him from a Republican perspective. Because as you say, the current leadership of that party is good at sinking things.

This is true. There is zero reason not to believe this woman's story, and the amount of detail should convince any skeptic.
