Why are these allegations getting massive publicity in the news exactly 1 week before a replacement has to be submitted?

If this were ginned up by Republicans they would for sure wait until after the deadline passed and then start hammering Platner. They'd hammer him on his tattoo, on his online comments, on the volatile behavior recounted by many women, on the sexting recounted by other women, on not having a real small business but instead selling 75%+ of his product to his mother's business, on taking a no-repayment loan from his dad accounting for about 85% of the cost of his house, and then if all of that didn't work they'd add a fake rape.

Why bring out the fake rape a week before a candidate with all that other baggage couldn't be replaced? That's just dumb. And while the current Republican leadership is cruel, immoral, and anti-American they are not politically dumb.

No, this really happened.
