I don't think anybody is saying this is an NIU-level loss
(not anybody here, I mean). I think KGB is remarking on the offensive gameplan being "NIU-esque".
There aren't a lot of these close losses to highly ranked teams in Freeman's tenure. We either booted one to a shitty opponent or lost by 2 scores to somebody average to good. The best comp might be the 2023 loss to 10 Ohio State, 14-17.
