1. Not getting Rees/Freeman meant Denbrock & Matt House. BK had no background with House. House felt like a LSU hire and not a BK hire.

Denbrock was a home run hire. By year 2 he had built a NC level offense. By year two the LSU defense was a disaster. House was fired at the end of the year along with most of his staff.

Year 3 BK hires Blake Baker to fix the defense and he does.

The problem was

2. Denbrock left for ND after yr 2.

So BK had to rebuild his defensive staff & hire a new OC.

As I mentioned he nailed Baker. The Denbrock replacement was worse than Matt House. Joe Sloan and Cortez Hankerson were LSU internal promotions guys with little experience.

It was complete meltdown on that side of the ball.

BK failed for several reasons at LSU but IMO not bei g able to get his coordinates straight screwed BK because he wasn't one of them and they weren't going to give him a lot of time to figure it out.
