He is taking over a 7-5 team that the fans think is an 11-1 team. He will likely face massive attrition through the portal and take recruiting hits. 8-4 or 9-3 would be a good first season for him, but the fans would consider that a failure. If he stays at Nebraska, he can continue to build for a few more seasons at a steady pace and be considered a success.

Maybe Penn State has some baked in structural advantages (facilities, access to NIL money, etc.) and they will likely throw a bunch of money at him, but it seems like a bad move.
