There was not a better alternative. The ceasefire would at some point soon threaten the global economy. Going back to war would be even worse.

The $300 billion presumably isn't from the US. Maybe we will never see NOEM, sad!

The regional powers will have to find a new stability and power balance, perhaps with a much lighter presence from the US. Normalized relations between Iran and the US would help.

There are other benefits of ending this destructive war. I hope that the peace holds.
