His family was never accepted by the real traditional power brokers in NYC. The Trumps were viewed as interlopers. So I would say that DJT's ambition -- more like desperation, really -- to curry money, power and attention has always been at least twice as brazen as his New York peers. There is essentially no limit to what the man would do for favorable press. This is the "short man" psychosis that still plagues Trump well into his 70s; it's bigger and more malevolent than where he's from.
