of slide tackles. And I understand how those plays could result in injury.

But there has been a huge amount of obvious grabbing and other seemingly aggressive conduct that seems like it should be illegal. I mean sure, if you hook an arm or grab a jersey in close quarters, chances are the ref can't possibly see it. But I'm surprised that hooking an arm over a guy's shoulders and using that to keep them from getting the ball isn't a foul. Ditto for a guy in position to receive a long goal kick, but a defender just plows through them from behind.
