but that is speculation on my part (well, if rumors are true, he has been actively seeking a club job, but who knows if that is true).

I do think the talent difference is wide, particularly when it comes to depth. We can't rely on our most talented player because he is oft injured. The supposedly American golden generation hasn't turned out to be so golden. Our 2 most talented players, Pulisic and McKinney, could only find roles in a relatively weak Series A. Dest and Weah never reached their projected heights. Reyna seems to have maturity issues or, at least, can't seem to find a place on a club team. Turner was a bust at Arsenal. Robinson has arguably been the most successful but has been hampered by injuries the past year or so. Richardson has been a surprise; probably the same with Berhaldter, who needs to move to Europe to improve. We simply lack a world class player and the GK and CB situations are dire.

I do completely agree with you that the Bolagun controversy affected the mentality of the team.
