Look I'm not a big soccer fan either
But American football fans arguing about how the most simple, most popular game in the history of the human race is shooting its foot off with overly tendentious rules and video review is pretty goofy.
It’s 2026, soccer is popular in America — it’s basically the only new property that NBC has continually and successfully invested in — and we can all approach it with a little humility. This is like showing up to a hurling match and telling all the guys around you what lacrosse rules should be put in place. A country defined by baseball and fifteen minutes of endgame free throws can’t honestly begin its arguments with dead air, downtime and cynical play.
