Tough to get it over the wall and back down with the correct velocity from that close in. Hit it too hard, and you blast it into the stands. Too low? Into the wall. Over but too soft? Keeper gets there.
To do it in a World Cup knockout game when playing with 10 men? Wow.
Edit: for every Messi free kick highlight goal there are lots of misses high, wide, or into the wall that nobody ever re-watches a reel of.
