You're 100% right. It's not a great course either IMO

There's so many downhill shots back up to a Weathertop style green, it just has strange sightlines. It's also a PITA to get to. I think Bethpage had like 5x the attendance numbers and that save you an hour plus of driving. Heck, it could be 2 with traffic.

There's many other great courses in the Tri State area that the USGA should go to before Shinnecock, but money talks and that's old money right there.
