Good find, thanks for forwarding
I haven’t read Chronicle a ton but my recollection is it does provide some good depth.
If I understood this correctly, the October response was not accept or decline the proposal, but to provide feedback?
I will say that I find the decrying of “political litmus tests” from academia a little rich.
a) something like 90% of faculty at these institutions are Democrats (and I would guess, well left of even the current Democratic party)
b) the blatant political litmus tests these institutions implemented in the wake of ESG, DEI, and BLM/trans rights awareness were so slanted that the Supreme Court was able to rule them illegal.
Setting up tests for ideological balance, however, can easily become a cure worse than the disease. I support the idea in principle, but the practice may be impossible.
Good idea to consider at least.

- From my experience, that 90% number is way too high. -
