we had a legitimate QB battle going on between Carr and Minchey and I don't think it was fake battle, because Minchey can play and I bet he shows it this year.
Minchey might actually have been the better option in the opener against Miami. The staff put training wheels on Carr and given what a beast Miami's DL was Minchey's ability to scramble and make off schedule plays might have given Miami more trouble.
Carr did fine -- 19/30 for 221 with two TDs against one pick.
Carr actually wound up with the most "carries" in the game 11 for 16 yards. Price had 45 yards rushing but most of that was on one 30 yard carry. Love ran 10 for 33 -- they were obviously keying on him.
We spent most of that game trying to play in a phone booth. We also lost the TO battle 2-0.
The defense was the problem against TAMU. Reed only completed 17 of 37 but we got torched by long completions (including the 86 yard TD to Craver).
But anyway, this we go in with a probable first round pick at QB, a much solidified OL. and an improved WR group.
Likely, the defense will be on the same page like they were after 3 games last year.
