Been seeing a bunch of kids playing hackey sack
by atxND, Friday, May 15, 2026, 09:27 (11 days ago) @ Jay
3 or 4 different groups of high school kids before I read the NYT article about how it’s become a “thing” again. Watching high school kids kicking a bean bag around standing in a circle in a parking lot while a self-driving car goes by in the background… that’s the whole thing in a nutshell, isn’t it?
And just like that, Swatxh is back too

French police fire teargas and UK shops close for safety reasons as hundreds queue for Royal Pop timepieces that make up Audemars Piguet collaboration.

No longer whack. It's all over the place in my neighborhood, and it's great to see.
It's definitely a trend.

My son's high school teams all do it pre-game.
Timing is everything

I used one for the first time last week in Atlanta. They are everywhere in the city.

I can't believe people get in those things.

My favorite story is the guy stuck in a Waymo for hours as it circled the airport w/o stopping.
Just got out of one

It was a lovely 40 minute drive with spa music and my own podcast on and 0 extra fragrances or questions about whether this driver was taking the best route.
You'd rather get into a taxi?

With a guy whose last name is like 8 consonants in a row?
I take them all the time…
by atxND, Friday, May 15, 2026, 07:11 (11 days ago) @ Bryan (IrishCavan)
Much prefer to human drivers. Much safer (honestly).
I generally agree...unless they get hacked
by GloveND, Friday, May 15, 2026, 10:23 (11 days ago) @ atxND
I certainly am no tech guy but is there not a way for tech warfare to hack into Waymo programming and cause awful chaos and destruction? This is my fear of all self-driving vehicles.
I would 1,000 times choose a Waymo over Tesla FSD

Tesla calls it Full-Self-Driving (Supervised) for a reason, and yet far too many people don't pay any attention when they're in their own car. Give me Waymo LiDAR + radar + cameras over Tesla only cameras.
Waymo means Waylarry and Waycurly - lmao.
