These fit your criteria to varying degrees, but they all stand out. There are plenty of other great spots, so feel free to keep asking for more or different.

Brothers Sushi (Sushi) - One of the better sushi joints in the area. If you'd like some personalized service, let me know and I can ask my friend to be your server. She's truly amazing.

Colapasta (Pasta) - The pasta is amazing. Not much seafood, but the plates can be shareable.

Holy Basil (Thai, very casual) - Excellent Thai food, but may be a little too casual.

Rustic Kitchen (Californian) - A great representation of locally sourced food. Can get a little noisy.

Shirube (Japanese izakaya) - Lots of really good seafood and small plate options, and I can never get enough izakaya in my life.

Xuntos (Spanish tapas) - Lots of really good seafood and small plate options. Good date vibes.

Thanks Joe! I'll report back,

It's actually

A well known and well loved spot. I've never been but folks I know on that side of town love it for the food but also the casual atmosphere. Maybe too casual for you - check the photos on the website but also on Yelp. But a place I definitely want to go one day and then uber home.

I have been there; didn't appreciate the history laid out.

It was conveniently next to the pier, and my recollection is that it exceeded my expectations.

as seen in film and on TV

Most recently was used for a critical scene in Clooney’s “Jay Kelly”. (Exterior only; interior was a set).

gotta be tough to film in that interior
