I am not sure what the future holds but I say this more as an appreciation for Marcus and what he has built, but especially for the players who buy into what ND sells.

Previously posted was the Jadarian interview, but I stumbled onto an interview with Jeremiyah Love's dad, too (ignore the false commentary in the actual tweet indicting Georgia). These kids both chose hard. They never wavered in 1) the belief in themselves, or 2) what they valued by choosing Notre Dame in the first place.

You hear coaches a talk about culture all the time, but damn if these 2 examples don't bear that out in plain sight. Hard not to love Marcus Freeman. Really hard not to be super impressed with these two....

Its almost frustrating listening to Mike's Power Hour

Talking about the guys that ND might have to turn away because we simply can't afford to pay everyone that wants to come/has legitimate interest in ND. Particularly in positions (DE, DT) where we've had a tough time attracting elite talent.

Of course, the flip side to that coin is that some of these guys might not have had legit interest in ND if ND wasn't going to be paying them.

But it does warm my heart to see that ND is still attracting great kids and great families even in the cash-grab era of college athletics.

Keep in mind …

There will always be some of what you describe in any healthy market.

Ez come Ez go.

You just gotta play the hand your dealt to the best of your ability. For the most part, I have become more comfortable with it bc I know Marcus Freeman (1) knows how to win and (2) isnt off golfing. He shows up and he does the work. He doesnt back away from hard. He competes.

After that, I cant really complain about woulda coulda shouldas.

FWIW, that interview w Jeremiyah’s Dad is excellent. Those are good people. Just classy as can be. What a blessing it was to have gotten the chance to see JL play for ND.

Everyone will be constrained sooner or later by a budget.

ND will not spend the most, but we are now closer to the top of the heap than some would realize and others would acknowledge. You can't sign the class we did last time around without legitimate resources.

With a ton of incredibly rich donors, get into the game of giving recruits money. And thank God it was the same time as we have a great HC. Violence on three....

That sounds about right

I think KGB is right. This has LIV Golf-type runway. At some point, even with entertainment value and interest, lighting your money on fire gets old.

Hopefully, they will be smart enough to be more efficient

at making sure they light their money on fire for good bets/ good investments.

Gotta do your homework and make good decisions.
