That never heals properly and is liable to go again at the slightest tweak.

I can’t recall a similar chronic injury.

It must be some kind of structural weakness. A damn shame because it’s basically cratered his career to date.

I’ve been saying it for a long time

Grubbs is closer to a Carr level prospect than Angeli. Dude is a player.

We should consider anything we get from Greathouse to be a surprise bonus at this point.

Sampson had a solid summary.

II had a podcast but I haven’t listened yet. Seemed like a very encouraging day for the left side of the line and the QB/WR. I am giddy at the thought of Graham’s athleticism wreaking havoc on linebackers and nickels. WR seems to be in good shape, and we’ve got Greathouse waiting in the wings and hopefully fixing that hamstring before August camp.

This is smoke blowing season but the signs are there that we’ve reached a new level of talent and depth across the board.

I have to keep him honest or he gets a big head.

often blanketing maybe our best 2 receivers (for now!) in Faison & Graham. What a luxury to have the freedom to shift a multi-year starter inside and quite possibly not skip a beat.

Same deal with Knapp. Waves of dudes all across the depth chart.

It's seemed to me for a while

by KGB, Belly o. the Beast, Sunday, April 19, 2026, 06:37 (10 hours, 43 minutes ago) @ terribletr

that he got the offer from Geno over others two years ago due in large part to intangible qualities that rated 10/10. He has a great frame, a live arm and a compulsion to get better. It was always ridiculous for people to act like a high school sophomore was within a mile of being a finished product.

Grubbs also didn't give a shit that ND convinced Jarrard to reclassify to 2026. There are not many QB recruits of any merit who would have brushed that off easily. Not scared of competition.

Everything seemingly starts with Dunham.

by KGB, Belly o. the Beast, Sunday, April 19, 2026, 06:27 (10 hours, 54 minutes ago) @ hobbs

He often looked unbloackable out there yesterday going against supremely talented OTs who have been in the program considerably longer. I'll double down on my "Aaron Lynch with upperclass maturity" comp.

It sounds like the OL did play well and won more often than they lost, creating some space for James and Walton to run. Given that we only really saw two of the five-headed backfield monster in action, I'm not concerned about a lack of explosive plays from our backs this fall.

Luke Talich could have gone the Burnham route with his final year of eligibility to secure a "starting job" elsewhere. Instead, he was confident enough in himself and the coaching staff to find even more ways to get him involved in a role just as impactful as one of the first 11. My prediction is that some NFL team is going to call Luke's number next spring, first-string be damned.

Devin Fitzgerald is exactly the sort of player fans will be talking about 2-3 years from now and wondering, "Why the hell were schools not all over this dude as a recruit? He's only Larry Fitz's freaking son!" Devin showed off some wheels and run-away-from-you speed yesterday that almost nobody thought he had in his bag. As Greg Flammang would say, we are monitoring.

Connor Flanagan and Adon Shuler are both serious red-asses who seem to always be in the middle of whatever extracurriculars have gone on this spring. Every great team needs a couple of these. Not TOO many...but a couple, absolutely. Will serve us well on the #revengetour.

Grubbs is a winner

by terribletr, Sunday, April 19, 2026, 05:59 (11 hours, 21 minutes ago) @ San Pedro

His team had no other DI players starting and he willed them to the championship.

Being a winner at QB is very underrated.

The spring game is next weekend.

It’s called the Blue and Gold game, and they hold it in the stadium and broadcast it on Peacock. Typically a fun weekend to be on campus.

by San Pedro @, More than 100 feet from Bob Davies, Sunday, April 19, 2026, 04:39 (12 hours, 41 minutes ago) @ hobbs

They spent the last year telling us how relatively unimpressive he was for an ND commit, yet Sampson reported he looked very capable yesterday.

I can't imagine anyone

who could represent Notre Dame better or coach the football team better than Marcus Freeman.

I am so grateful to him for washing out the bad taste of the Willingham era. I know that the whole thing of "the Black coach only got 3 years" was an undercurrent for a long time.

Freeman gives us the best chance we've had to win a national championship since the 1993 team's run (unless you want to count his 2024 team).

Who, technically, lined up at QB a few times.

He's a really useful early down player

by Mike (bart), Saturday, April 18, 2026, 18:26 (22 hours, 54 minutes ago) @ hobbs

Enough speed to win deep and the quickness to separate in the intermediate zone. Really hard to get a jump on what he's gonna do. Now that he's a senior and we are gonna see a lot more zone coverage (I'll bet) he could put up a 1,000 yard season

I was thinking something along those lines earlier

I was thinking that if Faison has a "breakout" season he'd be a guy that I would be interested in if I were an NFL GM. His Lax background (high level/small space athlete) coupled with the fact that he's only really devoted one year to football would intrigue me as to what he could become with year around dedicated training.

Not sure if he'd be St. Ra, as I not sure he's that big, but I could see him thrive in the slot position for guys like Lafleur, Reid, Shanahan or McVay (quick timing offense).

I don't think some realize the impact

by KGB, Belly o. the Beast, Saturday, April 18, 2026, 17:29 (23 hours, 51 minutes ago) @ Mike (bart)

of Faison scrapping LAX to focus fully on football. His connection with Carr is very strong. He will be drafted next spring IMO, and maybe not on Saturday.

insider-ish report

by HumanRobot @, Cybertron, Saturday, April 18, 2026, 13:46 (1 day, 3 hours, 34 min. ago) @ hobbs

  • The defense is as advertised -- this looks like a unit that's taken a step forward from what we saw on the field the last ten games. We have multiple guys at DB that expect to be 1st round picks.
  • If there's any problems with the defense, it's that we have so much versatility with our personnel that you worry about Coordinator ADHD
  • CJ Carr is giving "the man" vibes on the order of 2005 Brady Quinn. It's been a very long time since ND has had an undisputed, out of the gate AA level player at QB
  • I suspect Nolan James will end up being the primary back, although carries will be pretty balanced between him and Williams. Williams is one of the better receivers at RB that we've had in a long time
  • It's going to be hard to get Graham and Faison off the field. The WR position looks like it's light years ahead of where it was at the end of the Kelly era.

Anxious to see/hear about a lot of things, but one thing I want to see is how many high level snaps does Bubba Frazier and Keon Keeley get.

Just curious to see who among the new players has made enough of an impression to possibly earn playing time on a roster that's well stacked.
