The problem is, I don't think they do
I fully expect them to swallow whole the "it was a joke" or "It was me as a doctor" bullshit. Or worse, fully agree with Vance.
I had to explain to someone
that this was an interesting battle. I don't know his religious background, if any, but he tried to conflate the Catholic Right with Evangelicals.
Uh, no. The Evangelicals have no time for Catholics, unless it's for their political benefit/increased power. So many of the hardcore Evangelicals don't even consider Catholics to be Christian.
You're right - strange bedfellows.
Speaking from the heart of Evangelical Country…
They suck.
Shane had a funny line recently about all the Evangelicals eagerly awaiting Jesus’ second coming as Trump works to bring it about:
(Paraphrasing: “finally you guys wiped out that little girls’ school so I could return again to Earth. Been waiting a while for that.”)
I saw that joke in Fox Force Five.
Quote it all the time!
And in his wrath, the Father tomato trodeth upon
his slothful son, saying, "catch up!"
And lo, the Big Kahuna Burger was a tasty burger

Can that man get any stoopider?
The answer is likely yes, unfortunately.
Not even 10 years ago, that would have been an Onion
headline.
And an exceptionally far-fetched one at that.
Hegseth quoted Jules from Pulp Fiction
rather than the actual scripture verse from Ezekiel.

As a former Catholic
who spent way too many years in Catholic schools, I'm enjoying the Evangelical vs. Catholics. Maybe some of the right wing Catholics will realize they have made strange bedfellows.
I'm learning SO much about my faith this week.
