an Esquire fashion shoot (and accompanying NFL interest article).
It is noteworthy that Freeman has cleaned up his NFL enquiry responses from 4 months ago.

BTW - South Korea is amazing.
They also hosted Bussin’ with the Boys last week

Which showed off “Freeman Fieldhouse” and ran the hosts through a simulated practice.
I skipped through most of it, because I didn’t find it terribly funny or entertaining, but I enjoyed seeing the state of the facilities.
While the BwtB guys were there, Shane Gillis texted Marcus, as Shane was receiving photos from Taylor Lewan throughout the trip. Program is about as tapped in as it gets right now.
The interview with Marcus and CJ was good.

Nothing Earth-shattering, but they chatted for a while.
The basketball and shuffleboard were not worth watching.

He gave a better explanation on why he returned to ND, something along the lines of it’s easier to build something and win repeatedly in college whereas going above .500 in the NFL is considered success. It was a pretty polished answer and I want to believe it’s true, but I think he just believes he didn’t find the right NFL situation yet.
I'm not convinced about that last sentence

He sounded to me like someone who has made his peace with not going to the NFL. If he were going to take a job there, why not the Steelers? They have historically stood by their coaches more than most.
Freeman's strengths line up better with college than the NFL. And his comments sure sounded like he's figured that out.
He said he didn't take an interview. If he didn't this year, I am not sure what's going to change in the near future.
Maybe after a couple of NCs and a few more years of being on the road for recruiting he'll change his mind. Even then though, I doubt it. He can delegate more of that down the line and still enjoy a high quality of life/stability, a rock solid job situation, and get to mentor quality young men that ND makes sense for. When it's working well at ND, there are not many better gigs in sports.
He also has unfinished business

He wants to win a national championship, if not multiple. I don't believe he will leave until he has accomplished that goal. Hopefully he just gets it out of the way next winter so we can start testing that theory.

Because the right situation was out there last year. Not sure there is a greater stereotypical fit than the Steelers. I guess you could argue the Ravens job too.
Stable franchises that are patient with their coaches. But by the time those opportunities opened there were a number of other jobs that had vacancies where Marcus was rumored to be a candidate. that process went on so long that he needed to make some declarative statement if only because he had to fill out staff and recruit. Once he did so was when the better opportunities opened.
Maybe I am an irrational optimist but if he didn't take those opportunities, then which one would he actually take?
Always thought the Steelers were well-run

but over the past few years it's gotten really stale and you have to wonder if the football IQ of the decisionmakers up in the box has diminished considerably (see also: Gints). Are they entering their dreaded Mike Brown era?
Pittsburgh feels like a job that looks inviting from the outside but not so keen under the hood. It will not surprise me to discover that Tomlin has been propping up that team for the past 3 years.
As a Steeler fan I agree

They seem to be kind of stuck in no man’s land, locked into a perennial 9-8 record and first round exit from the playoffs. They don’t have a QB, and Rodgers is at best a stopgap. The trouble is, he is a bridge to nowhere, as they don’t have the draft capital to elevate that position going forward.
Either they need to get insanely lucky with a diamond in the rough QB, or they probably need to tank for a season and reset. I just don’t see them improving on their current trajectory.

It was the best answer he's given yet

I know there's a ton of "Bussin with the Boys" content going around right now, so I expect he was asked about it again. Will be interested to see if this becomes something of a tagline for him, or if some more doubt creeps back in.
