I seem to remember him putting out a long document about style, formation, and tactics back when he was technical director, with the idea that all levels would play the same way. Not sure how it worked at the youth levels, but Berhalter never seemed to follow it.

The youth teams run the same offense/defense as the high school teams. At a national level! That takes so much discipline and, most importantly, adults sacrificing personal glory to work within a structured system.

but it seemed like Spain was excellent in playing angles. There were about 3-4 instances in the first half where Mbappe or someone else was poised for a runout and every time France attempted to pass them the ball a Spanish defender was standing on the angle of the pass and the ball would go right to them.

I honestly think that if France hits on one of those passes and goes up 1 NIL the entire direction of the match could have changed.

Much respect to Spain. I knew their defense was good. I just didn't think they'd be good enough to shutout an extremely talented French team.
