FU - Anyone like Spain today versus France?

Spain may be the 2nd next team in the tournament, but I just don't think they have enough offensive firepower to keep up with the French trio of Mbappe, Dembele and Olise.

Lamine Yamal is fantastic and all but he's 18 and far too young to lead a team past an experienced French national team. That said if Spain wins it will likely be because of their defensive effort.

on par in the league with some of the forwards France has on its roster.

I don't know that Pulisic is all that far away from someone like Thuram when Inter play Milan in Italy.

You give Weston McKennie a Spanish or French name, and he makes either roster as a backup midfielder, in my opinion. (edit: well, maybe not the Spanish midfield.)

If he can be productive in the EPL (or wherever he goes), then maybe. But I wouldn't put him in front of Mateta, who I think was probably the last forward chosen. If Ekitike didn't get injured, I definitely wouldn't consider Balogun in front of him.

I think Pulisic gets playing time, not sure if he’d start, but there’s a decent chance they’d make room for him.

I think both Pulisic and Balogun have proved themselves as at least decent contributors on a consistent basis at this level.

Everyone else is a lot more questionable.

So that puts Spain at a 40% chance of winning today. You never know. France has looked mighty unstoppable, but that Spain team is no newbie when it comes to winning. France may have won their 2nd WC in 2018, but Spain did also win it for their first time in 2010. I think both sides are plenty capable.

My assumption is we’ll get to watch some world class footie later today. I hope neither team resorts to crappy dives and begging for PKs.

Lets see the best of the best. I hope this match is as good as I expect it to be.
