re: Dubrovnik, worth a visit, but need only a day
The old town is gorgeous, although it feels like a themed section of Disneyland, and seems to live only for tourists. But the walk on the walls surrounding the city is fantastic, and there’s a cable car up the hill with a pretty good bar and restaurant at the top (need a reservation, both for a table and the lift). I would put Dubrovnik on your itinerary but no need to stay within the walls.
