Why can’t A. Williams be replacement level for Price?

Price is bigger but arguably Williams is tougher in space. Williams can make people miss for sure. Their clocked 40 times are essentially equivalent. Recall Williams did some kickoff return duty in the 24 season. In any event, while we won’t have the one two punch of Price and a generational talent like Love, it sure seems like we could have a Price-level running game which seems more than adequate to me.

For all we know,

he would have been the best RB in college football last year, had the two guys who were better than him not been available and ahead of him on the depth chart.

We can't count on continuing

To have the 60 or 70 yd lightning strike TDs that Love and Price so often provided. But we're also not going to go back to the dark days of the Weis running game, where we went multiple seasons without a TD run longer than 20 yards.

The running game will be fine. Naturally it will take a step back. But its going to remain extremely functional. And with guys like Aneyas and Young in there, it could be much more effective in picking up short yardage.

I liked what the II podcast said

Paraphrasing... We should expect those 20 and 30 yard runs to continue. They just all won't turn into 60 to 70 yard runs like they did with Love and Price.

Really more of a Love issue, I think

I don’t think Price had more than one run of more than 50 yards last year and the year before. That’s why I think Williams will be a more than capable replacement and certainly a better receiver out of the backfield.
Love is of course a different story.

Aneyas has conjured a lot of lightning strikes

for a dude who hasn't been on the field much over two years. Sounds like he popped a long one on a wheel route yesterday. Always seems to make shit happen when given the opportunity.

No reason why he can't be a lot like Kyren

In the PSU game in 24

He had more big plays than Price, including catching the ball.
