Unless he's willing to play some sort of "villain" role on a show, I wouldn't think anyone would want to put him on their broadcasts.

But I'm not convinced that he's a network pariah. They hire fired coaches all the time and BK was actually pretty good with commentary the times that I saw him on ESPN.

He knew he was on the back half of his career before he left ND. He wanted more years on an extension than Swarbrick was willing to give. So he went and took his golden parachute without realizing all the work he'd need to do in order to succeed.

He could have played out the string at ND, left when it was time, and probably transitioned into a TV gig if he wanted. But he couldn't help himself. Because he's an asshole. And now he's largely going to be a pariah at every school he coached, and no network will touch him. Because he's an asshole.

As far as Kelly having a chip on his shoulder and "working his way up" the college football chain, that's fine. But that doesn't give you the authority or right to turn into an arrogant, lazy douche. I agree with Terry. Fuck that guy.

1. He left ND poorly.
2. He was treated unfairly or unrealistically by LSU.
3. He should enjoy his financial windfall.
4. He should be more comfortable with the silence.

and everything to do with the fact that he asked for the heat when he left. Quite openly. The guy had a killer job working for an AD and fanbase that didn't demand a championship with a bunch of kids who were easy to coach and unlikely to cause headaches. He could have rode the train at ND for another 3 years, maybe longer. But his eyes were bigger than his T-level, and he took what he had for granted. He knew what the demands of the LSU job would be and embraced them in every one of the 73 interviews he did on his little honeymoon tour. "Fairness" was never going to be part of the equation in Baton Rouge.

Him waiting until after the season to make a move seems almost quaint.

He really could have engineered an amicable exit from ND. Everyone was probably cool w him leaving, they just didn’t want to be caught flat-footed.

At the same time, I guess LSU wasn’t gonna wait around forever and that offer needed a signature… and if it was known he was leaving ND anyways he’d be less of a hot commodity than if they were “stealing” him.

He's well within his rights to feel like he got shafted.

I get the chip on his shoulder. He wasn't born to (football) privilege and didn't get handed an elite job as a career entry point (ala Kiffin). Dude worked his way up from DC at lowly Assumption College, where he had to hand water the practice field, and rose to become the head coach at ND and LSU.

If BK didn't have that chip, I doubt his career ends anywhere near the LSU or ND jobs.
