OT: Ideas for a Chicago Bachelor Party

by Bill, Murrieta, CA, Monday, December 29, 2025, 08:23 (162 days ago)

My youngest is getting married in October, and wants to schedule a bachelor party in Chicago. Looks like the dates are set for the July 4th weekend. The major attraction will be attending a Cubs game. I believe the plan is to rent an AirBnB (for a group of 15 30-year olds) somewhere in the Wrigleyville, Lincoln Park, Near North area.

But it's been 20+ years since I've spent much time in the Windy city, and many more than that since I was a youngster hanging out at The Lodge.

What activity ideas, including dining spots, are recommended? They're looking to be economical, but not cheap. And finding the best deep dish pizza will probably be on the agenda.

The Lodge is still going strong

Hell, it looks the same as it ever did.

You can drag them on a pub crawl of the old Division St./Elm St. haunts: Shenanigan's, Butch McGuire's, Mother's, the Hangge Uppe, all still there. There's also a very nice bar right next to The Lodge where The Snuggery used to be. RIP Finley's and Z's Sports Tap.

I had my bachelor party there a long time ago.

We ended up at The Hangge Uppe at some point, because, well, it was a bachelor party.

The guys found a street festival for our afternoon, which was great - the perfect mix of beer, people watching, and music. Dinner was deep dish - I loved Pequods when we went there as a family last year - and then bouncing around to more active bars (think - live music type places). I'm not the guy to recommend that at this point.

Lou Malnati's also a has a party room, IIRC

So did I, back in 2012

My friends took me for the full animal service dinner at Frontier--we got the wild boar, and it ruled--and then I forced everyone to catch some live jazz at the Green Mill and some live blues at Kingston Mines. It was a great weekend, and while some of it is hazy, the parts I do remember are fond memories.

Second Pequods.

I like the Morton Grove location but the one in or near(?) wrigleyville is great too.

Go to the top of a building.

The Up Room at the Robey is good if they're going to be sticking to Wrigleyville/Bucktown.

For pizza, it's Pequods.

You can rent a Duffey boat at Marina city and drive all over the river, which is fun.

My 30-something son raved about the architectural tour

on the Chicago River. I'm not sure how "cultured" they want to be, but everyone in his group loved it and it's not expensive.

www Chicagoline.com

They do cocktail service on their 6 pm and later cruises, and the bartenders are usually cute Irish girls in Chicago for the summer
