if you give them two downs, that doubles the chances (esp. with that crew) of a BS defensive holding call on something to give them a 1st down.

Probably if it were 2nd and 24, we would've played a soft zone and given them 8 or so yards anyway.

It's arguable, but I would've done what Freeman did.
