Carl Johnson was arrested Monday for violating the terms of a temporary restraining order relating to a petition filed by a former girlfriend who claimed the offensive lineman "date-raped" her three times, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Johnson emerged as a top lineman for the Gators this past season.
Johnson was booked into the Alachua County jail at 1:21 p.m. Monday after being arrested by university police following notification that Johnson followed a woman off a campus bus. He was issued a restraining order last Monday. The St. Petersburg Times reported Johnson was released from jail on his own recognizance Tuesday morning and that no criminal charges have been filed.

Court documents obtained by the Orlando Sentinel spell out serious accusations and a sordid tale that includes "regular" emotional and physical abuse. According to the Sentinel story in regards to the petition filed by the woman, Johnson would be "play fighting" when "he would shake me, bite me and hit me."

The petition claims that one of Johnson's goals in life was to "shoot and kill someone." Other indiscretions are also included that Johnson would "go upstairs and get his gun" when he found out that the petitioner informed Johnson's family of his behavior and when she told him he'd go to jail he said, "I don't care"¦at least it would be for something good," according to the Sentinel report.

"I'm afraid of Carl and what he might do," the petitioner states in the report obtained by the Sentinel. "His actions are so unpredictable and what he has said to me about wanting to kill people and the fact that he threatened me is scary.

"Throughout our relationship, he also made it very clear that he is not afraid to put his hands on a woman. His physical size is not only intimidating, as he is 6-7 and 350 lbs., but his status on the football team at UF is too. He has access to people who could physically harm me."

The court ordered Johnson to avoid contact with the petitioner in person, by mail, e-mail, fax, telephone or through another person and he was also ordered not to carry a firearm, the Sentinel reported.

Johnson started in eight and played in all 14 games last season. He was expected to compete for a starting job on Florida's offensive line when spring practice started next month. Rivals.com rated Johnson as a five-star recruit out of Durham (N.C.) Southern in the 2006 recruiting class.

Johnson is the fourth Florida player to be arrested in the past 10 months. The other three were dismissed from the team. Safety Jamar Hornsby was arrested on felony credit card fraud charges. He has since signed a letter of intent to play at Ole Miss.

Cornerback Jacques Rickerson was arrested for felony battery after allegedly hitting his girlfriend in the face, choking her and then covering her face with a pillow when she screamed for help. Coach Urban Meyer released a statement shortly thereafter dismissing Rickerson and, in part, saying "that is not what our program is about."

Quarterback Cameron Newton was also kicked off the team after felony burglary charges were filed stemming from a stolen laptop computer. Newton has enrolled for spring classes at Blinn College in Texas.

...@ the Army AA game...

"Carl, if you were Percy Harvin for a day, what would you do?"

"Probably get laid."

Yeah this was in a video interview.

Worse judgment: Carol for saying it, or Scout for publishing the video?
