WXRT tribute to Lin
XRT had a 4+ hour tribute to Lin yesterday with clips, stories, favorite songs of his and testimonials. Many artists called in including Steve Earle, Jeff Tweedy, and others whose records Lin was the first in the country to feature when he was program director.
I was driving to Seattle yesterday and heard most of it. Truly extraordinary.
It was a requiem for a great and beloved man, but to my mind also for radio itself and the place WXRT played in the lives of 2 generations of Chicagoans.
Link to much of the show, available through Sunday I believe:

I loved that show, but
it usually made me hungry for an Italian beef sandwich, and Chicago is a long drive.
When I'm watching Peaky Blinders or somesuch and they all start drinking whiskey, that's just a walk to my cabinet.
re: Lin Brehmer
Had forgotten this opener to an episode of The Bear. Excellent.
