Hughes could really be a weapon as a FB/TB hybrid...
like RPN. If he can learn how to block, it would be an excellent way to get him on the field more.
Imagine these passing options: Tate, Floyd, Rudolph, Allen, and Hughes. Try covering that.
Can Anthony Barr play FB?
He seems to have the size and the frame for it. If he comes to ND, I can't see him playing RB or S, I think it's going to come down to LB or FB. I don't see any reason why he can't play both, either. In Weis' offense the FB isn't all that involved, though maybe with an athlete like Barr we can get him involved in the passing and running game.
I miss RPN.
And have been doing so since mid-2005.
I wonder if Weis misses RPN as well, or just doesn't realize it.

I'm not convinced they should have given him the ball more
rather, I think they should have developed a replacement for him, and thus kept the fullback as part of the offense. Instead they just decided not to use the fullback. I think that choice really hurt, and made us less diverse and more predictable.
After Stanford 2007...
I pleaded with the coaches on any open forum I could find that they never, ever give the ball to Asaph. Sort of feel bad about it now. Not that they read my pleadings and felt it was a good idea, of course. But you'd think they'd have fed him the ball a half dozen times during the bowl game once it was in hand at the least.
Maybe Weis finally came to understand that "no lead is safe."

Don't blink or you'll miss him.
Three, count 'em, three touches all year long. And two of them were checkdowns.
