What is your take on being named associate head coach?

³I¹m excited to take on this role as associate head coach. We¹re trying to do everything we can to get this program to where it needs to be. Anything I can do to help our program get there I¹m going to do.²

How will this change your job responsibilities?

³Last year game planning was a collaborative effort and that won¹t change this year. The only thing that will be different is that Jon will call the plays on Saturday but I view this as a tremendous opportunity for me.²

When were you first made aware of this decision?

³I¹ve been on board with this since the start. Coach Weis and I actually discussed this towards the end of the regular season and I was as on board with it then as I am now.²

What are your feelings on this?

³I¹m all for making Notre Dame better. If this will help us win more games next year than I¹m all for it. I¹m the ultimate team guy. I¹ve always been the ultimate team guy. One great thing about this coaching staff is that we do things together. Anything we can do to help the team win we will do collectively.²

On Bryant Young joining the staff as a GA:

³I¹m a huge Bryant Young fan and I have been since I knew him in high school when he was just a young puppy. I was his host when he visited Michigan.

His parents live down the street from my parents now. We go way, way back.²

On Bryant Young¹s coaching future:

³We had a similar situation at Virginia when Andy Heck came on as a GA. Now Andy is one of the better coaches for the Jacksonville Jaguars. I can see Bryant bringing that same passion and helping us all out. It¹s a win-win for everyo
