ND Bloggers (and friends) Mock ND/Opposition Draft

I mentioned a while back, probably many weeks ago at this point, the idea of having a mock draft between ND bloggers (and, really, anyone who was on this forum and is interested) using a pool of players from the anticipated starting lineups of ND and ND's 2009 opponents. I think some of the BGS guys were interested, and perhaps a few others around here would be interested as well. Now that I'm out of the woods on a project for real-life-work, I thought I'd try and kick-start that over the next few days.
So I'm thinking it could work by first putting together the pool of players names, then getting a list of interested parties. Obviously the max would be 13 drafters. Then over the course of a day or two, I could manage a draft via e-mail. Each drafting party would need to assemble a team of the best possible talent of 22 men. Of course, you'd have to draft at each position. This gets a bit tricky since some teams use 1 back as their base, 2 TE, yadda yadda yadda. I think to simplify things, we'll just go with your standard I, 1 TE type setup for O. Not sure what to do with D, since there are so many fronts among teams that are their "starting lineups." I'm quite open to suggestion.
Anyway, this benefits bloggers because then we could do a series where we each present our pick, explain why we pick this person, give some background to their career and help the readers know the opposition better. Anyone who doesn't have their own site but would like to participate can contact me on this board and I'll be happy to have you as a gust poster on HLS. And if some other bloggers are interested in guest posters and we get enough interest, they're more than welcome to do the same.
So let me guage the interest again with this post. Also, if you have suggestions on how to handle things, let me know. And then I'll go from there over the next few days in getting things set up.

I would suggest going with just a flex position-- teams can draft either a 2nd RB, a 3rd WR, or a 2nd TE.
I think of a team like USC with their 6 or 7 running backs, and I'm not sure how those guys would get drafted. On the other hand, a lot of teams (ND included) use 3 WRs more than 2 RBs.
I was thinking of this for both sides of the ball.

One "extra"/flex on offense, one on defense.
What about specialists like kickers, punters, and returners?
Yeah, the flex position would probably work well for O and D

I wasn't really planning to do ST (look at me, all cavalier with 1/3rd of the game!). We could do K/P, but returners are tough. Again, I'm open to suggestion. Just not sure how to handle return men who would otherwise be drafted by someone else for WR/RB.

Are we still up in the air in terms of whether or not we would have a fantasy league afterwards? I think that might require too much work, especially in terms of drafting back-ups, arranging line-ups (considering bye weeks), and reporting the scoring each week.
As far as the draft itself, I think that it would be most useful to readers if the draft was done by position. So we would all draft linebackers, let's say, at the same time. On the other hand, when it comes down to looking at the top talent that ND faces this year, then it seems like an overall draft might be the best way to go.

good, reliable sources for starting lineups? I was going to wait for Phil Steele, but if you or your gang ant BGS know of an ace in the hole, I'd appreciate it. I'll start compiling the pool of players while we sort of details.

will better enable "market forces" and give us a better chance of highlighting some talent that readers may not know much about.
I'd love to do a fantasy game, but the work is just too much.
We'll do ST. P, K, and 1 return man. And we'll treat the return man as separate from the WR/RB pool, so if someone already got Golden Tate, WR, you can still get Golden Tate, Return Man if you wish.
Any thoughts on presentation of picks? Would people want to do one post per player, or just after the dust has settled from the draft, each site posts their picks? Or, might we want to do round-by-round where I take each drafter's write up of their pick in that draft, compile, and distribute back to the various participants?
