but is anybody wondering if Gruden took a TV gig rather than signing up for another head coaching job because of the seemingly in-flux ND situation? Or was it just that nobody was interested in hiring him, which I have a hard time believing in a world where Norv Turner still has a job.

But I'm guessing the jobs weren't that appealing, and Gruden wanted to take a year off to monitor the landscape. I bet he's keeping an eye on ND, but it's probably just one of numerous jobs that he would consider, in both college and the NFL.
