It's funny
I'd totally forgotten that we were getting another Golic.
Not to disparage Jake, but I'd prefer Biba.

Right now is the so-called "spring evaluation" period
It's the time, right after spring ball, when coaches (now assistants only) spend a month hitting up Red Roof Inn's and Burger King drive-thrus in their quest to visit as many high schools as possible.
As a result, a lot more offers go out as new assistants hang out with the head football coach in some windowless converted storage closet and watch film of that school's recruits. Recruits therefore tend to slow down with the verbal commits as you never know when a "better" school is going to drop by the school and potentially offer you.
The next phase is when kids are out of school and start to make unofficial visits to schools for camps or just a weekday trip. That's when hopefully ND will start to get a few more commits. If not, it might be a longer wait for the types that wait until after their senior season.
The big-timers are definitely waiting
But we should see some activity in the next month or so. Alex Welch, a TE from Cincinnati, will probably commit by the end of May, and Montana, Spencer Boyd and Lo Wood have all said they'll announce in June.
Others behind me will be more eloquent
but it seems at this point that many recruits are taking a wait and see approach.
If you were a 17 or 18 year old, would you want to jump on board now or maybe see how things go?
Recruitment Hiatus
While I can't say that I appreciate all the "Barack Obama is a marxist, commy-pig who loves to eat baby sandwiches with stem cell relish" battling the "Barack Obama is a sinless demi-god sent direct from heaven to deliver us from the sins of our greedy consumer culture" talk that's surrounded ND in the past few days, it has taken my mind off the fact that the bowl win, T'eo signing and Chris Martin commitment haven't exactly produced a glut of commits recently.
I'm only about two years into following recruiting with this past year being the most I've delved into it. Anyone have any stats or memories to stay my hand as we navigate through the football doldrums of May, June and July?
Not that this board would engage in any kind of political bashing, but as a preemptive strike: My personal views lie somewhere between "He's a baby eater!" and "He's a god!" and we'll leave it at that.
