The Recruiting Classes of 2004 and 2005

First of all, it is now offical. The Recruiting Class of 2004 officially had ZERO NFL draft picks in it. And that goes for all the guys that left ND. I have no problem stating that it is the single worst recruiting class in the history of Notre Dame football. It had exactly one player who would be a starter on offense - Darius Walker. And it had a few journeymen starters on defense - Crum, Lambert, and Justin Brown.

And while the smaller, patchwork Class of 2005 has done a little better it's not pretty:

At best it will have 3 players drafted and that's only if McCarthy and Duncan get picked next year.

So, ND signed two recruiting classes, back to back, that only had 32 players to begin with and of that group between 1-3 ended up being NFL draft picks.

That's IAA level talent.
