A sort of x-factor for defensive improvement

I think having Brian Smith as the tone-setter on defense, and combining his personality with that of coaches Hart, Tenuta, and Brown (along with BY), will immediately make us tougher by a large measure. Last year, Smith deferred to Crum, who is a great kid, but hardly a firebrand. Attitude, especially on defense, counts for a lot in the college game IMO.

I see a pre game brawl in our future...

and I'm good with that. "Fighting" Irish and all...

A pre-game brawl is likely

but only if Script and I have had a few too many, and the "TE vs FS" argument gets out of hand...

Luckily, we're old school. Loser buys the winner a beer, and we'll agree to disagree.

Seriously, this is a good thread. Attitude and anger work much better in an aggressive scheme than a read and react scheme. In read and react, if a kid loses his head a little bit, he's likely to blow his read. In an aggressive scheme, it can help the player blast through a block and take someone's head off.

(Except for the DB's, who always have to make the correct read. Luckily all DB's are level-headed deep thinkers...)

"Anger is a Gift."
