Speaking of quarterbacks, Deuce Knight

by NDinVA @, Yorktown, VA, Tuesday, September 10, 2024, 12:16 (86 days ago)

might visit ND for the Louisville game, or he might go to Auburn again for their game against Oklahoma.
Auburn beat writer thinks he’ll go to the ND game. He also thinks it’s down to 50-50 between ND and Auburn to sign Deuce.

Can he

A very interesting recruitment.

by San Pedro @, Tuesday, September 10, 2024, 12:18 (86 days ago) @ NDinVA

The Auburn guys have been all over this. I don't think the ND guys have any real clue what's happening.

Saw some video of him - he is an effortless athlete. I don't care how raw he is, let's get him on campus.

He's apparently telling ND commits that he's sticking

But we've heard this song before...

The communication with the coaching staff hasn't been great, until somewhat recently. So who knows. Seems conflicted about what he wants vs. what he should do. And that doesn't work out well for ND hardly ever.

The way this works...

Is we land him, he signs, comes to spring ball, plays half a season, then sits for some weird injury until the portal opens up.

Sometimes I rhyme slow sometimes I rhyme quick.

If all the NIL is up-front, sure.

by nedhead @, Tuesday, September 10, 2024, 14:50 (86 days ago) @ domer.mq

A backloaded but juicy contract (or NIL) would provide a strong incentive to stick around, if there was good playing time in his future. If he needs the full bag of cash now, best go elsewhere, as anyway he might not be a great fit.

He's going to get a bag of cash from an SEC school

by Jeremy (WeIsND), Offices of Babip Pecota Vorp & Eckstein, Tuesday, September 10, 2024, 15:30 (86 days ago) @ nedhead

Whether its up front to attend as a freshman, or transfer as a sophomore.

At ND, the big bucks probably don't come until he's a starter, which is by no means guaranteed.

I suspect that will be the optimal short-term NIL strategy

by Jeff (BGS) @, A starter home in suburban Tempe, Wednesday, September 11, 2024, 05:44 (85 days ago) @ Jeremy (WeIsND)

1) Find someone desperate for your skill set
2) Sign with/transfer to the school that offers the most guaranteed, short term cash
3) Repeat

It’s probably better if the player never plays a down, as that preserves eligibility and their potential is more important than their actual talent. Playing might just provide evidence that they aren’t actually Patrick Mahomes 2.0.

Not the right strategy for your long-term career, either in football or elsewhere. But, it might be a way to grab $5M in cash over five years.

There's no way he makes it to his sophomore season in South Bend.

Reminiscent of Aaoron Lynch scenario.

STILL my all-time favorite recruitment. I remember for some

reason being in Costco the evening after the Army All-American game. The message board and twitter updates were bananas. I finally just plopped myself in a recliner for sale with my nose in my phone. My wife rolled her eyes and marched off to plot her vengance.

Tell me you bought that recliner.

Isn't he the one who had a monster game versus MICHSU

in his first game?

Yep. Losing him still breaks my heart. He did stuff that

nobody we've had since could do. Not Foskey or Okwara or Hayes. None of them.

Can you elaborate?

by Irish96, Tuesday, September 10, 2024, 15:16 (86 days ago) @ BillyGoat

I assume you mean pure raw potential because he never really did much on the field.

Yes, relative to ND it was potential (other than when he

by BillyGoat, At Thanksgiving with Joe Bethersontin, Wednesday, September 11, 2024, 06:30 (85 days ago) @ Irish96

took over that MSU game). His frame and explosion and almost comically long arms were just traits we almost never ever get. He had the potential to be an All-American caliber hellraiser off the edge.

His high school highlights are still the most comically violent I've ever seen from a recruit to sign with ND, by a wide margin.

And what was maybe the most crazy was he had clearly the second best DE highlights in his class, behind Clowney. Clowney, of course, started his highlights with a 99-yard rushing TD where he looked like a much bigger version of Derrick Henry.

Jay Da VEEEE ON should never be mentioned on this Board
