I am watching. Gotta admit, I am a litle emotional and
I think it is not because "my guy" won but because it feels like my Country may have a chance of being what it is supposed to be.
Amanda Gormand. Wow. I can't watch this and not cry.
The 4th of July called. They're jealous of the fireworks!

They were pretty incredible
I’d loved to have seen them in person. As soon as the first note of Firework started, my wife said “Ah, that’s why they saved Katy Perry for last.”
I loved the “nationwide, all-day party” inauguration. Some of the acts were hit or miss, but it was a great counterpoint to an inaugural ball. Inclusive vs exclusive. Inauguration should probably be the biggest celebration in the country. I like that it was bigger than halftime of the Super Bowl and Independence Day rolled together.

Yet again, because (mostly) of COVID, we had to reinvent
a major celebration. And by putting more thought and effort into it, it actually got better. I thought the virtual NFL draft was awesome, and they should do it that way every year. The conventions were better. There are other examples, but I can't think of them right now.
Hopefully, the future of inauguration night is like what we saw last night. A celebration of the people -- not just one person -- and the many virtues of this great country.
Rumor around here is that snow days are a thing of the past
Asking teachers to pivot to online classes at a moment's notice seems like a bit of a tough ask, but it is probably worth it for more stability in the school calendar and a couple of extra days of summer.
Sort of a "Necessity is the mother of invention" kind of thing.

Not convinced it'll work...
On most "snow days," people aren't arranging for young kids to get to another good learning location. They're just making sure the kids are fed and safe thru the day. A lotta folks can't worry about internet access and a quiet space at the drop of a hat.

There are a couple of prerequisites
I think the theory is that everyone has already addressed these over the past 8 weeks of remote learning, so I suspect their snow day plan will be an extension of this. Maybe they will engage with the park district to provide remote learning locations like they have for the past eight weeks.
We'll see...

In Indiana, eLearning started a few years ago....
It wasn’t designed for long-term but many districts had largely eliminated snow days as part of being one-to-one.
The eLearning days were asynchronous and kids had like 3 days to finish the assignments which allowed for families without reliable internet and a quiet workspace some leeway.
Makes sense for high school. Not so much for younger kids.

Yeah, they should aim to do something...
more like that in "normal times." Watching Wolf Blitzer or whoever explain what's going on during some insidery luncheon is always lame.

Breaking Per WaPo - On that Jan 6th call
But why then did the Army deny his involvement on Jan 6th? If it was b/c his last name was "Flynn" then that conflict should have barred him from the Post.
...unless someone higher up wanted him in the command chain and overrode the logical decision.
It's seppuku city in QAnon world today
Ron Watkins (who's probably Q) posted this after the whole Q world went nuts when Biden was neither killed nor arrested as planned, but rather inaugurated.
I wouldn't doubt that there a few real suicides
I say that with sadness that some people are so delusional.
More Q fallout in this thread
They got Kristy Swanson?
