Coach swap?!

by BPH, San Diego, Thursday, November 30, 2017, 11:33

That happened once in baseball

In the middle of the 1960 season, Indians manager Joe Gordon was traded for Tigers manager Jimmy Dykes.

It was the oddest baseball trade until Yankee pitchers Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich traded wives.

What about the guy who was traded for himself?

There are not one, but four such trades

The first was Harry Chiti, who the Indians traded to the Mets for a player to be named later, which turned out to be Harry Chiti. Since that was in 1962, that was great luck for Chiti. He was an original Met from late April to mid-July.

The others are Dickie Noles (Phillies to Cubs and back), Brad Gulden (Yankees to Mariners and back), and John McDonald (Blue Jays to Tigers and back).

My favorite trades as a kid were when the White Sox traded shortstop Ron Hansen to the Senators for shortstop Tim Cullen after the 1967 season. Then in the middle of the 1968 season the White Sox traded shortstop Tim Cullen to the Senators for shortstop Ron Hansen.

Forget key parties.

This is the era of the lanyard party.

Josh Newberg expects it (Fisher to aTm) to be official today

I have no effing clue who Josh Newberg is.

Longtime FSU beat guy. His brother Jamie is, IIRC,

by BillyGoat, At Thanksgiving with Joe Bethersontin, Thursday, November 30, 2017, 12:19 @ Domer99

a national/regional guy for Rivals.

I believe Josh was fairly nasty with misinformation during the Battle of Lynch Ridge, following the 2011 Army game.

Isn’t FSU one of the top three jobs in the country?

How can they not do better than Kevin Sumlin?
