by MattG, Monday, August 01, 2016, 14:44 (3154 days ago)
Jay just sortied his way out of Paris and we just set up shop. I've never been here w kids before.
What should we do with kids? Where and when should we eat?

I'm always ready to reply if anyone asks for recommendations on dive bars in and around the Fort Wayne area, but so far no luck.
Are dive bars in Ft. Fun distinguishable from other bars?

I think the children like it when I "get down" verbally.

the lad (and you) will like the Musée de l'Armée
by Jay , San Diego, Monday, August 01, 2016, 15:10 (3154 days ago) @ MattG
Lots of weaponry, armor, guns, cannons. It's at the Invalides. Also has a museum on WWI & WWII, plus Napoleon's tomb.
They opened a new section there last year all about the French Resistance in WWII and it's pretty interesting (Le musée de l'ordre de la Libération, same ticket as the general museum & Napoleon). Three wings: homeland resistance, foreign legions fighting the Germans, and the Deportation.
nighttime boat tour from Pont Neuf
by Jay , San Diego, Monday, August 01, 2016, 15:03 (3154 days ago) @ MattG
I think it's like 7 euros. Eiffel tower will sparkle at 10pm, 11pm, and midnight so you can time your trip. The daytime tour is good too but it's better at night. You can bring booze on board.
Since the sun sets after 9PM you should just plan on having the kids stay up every night too. Ours did.
the ferris wheel at place de la Concorde

I think going up the Eiffel Tower is a big waste of time, but from the ferris wheel you actually get a cool ride AND awesome views without having to blow half a day.
childen's tour at Musee d'Orsay
by Jay , San Diego, Monday, August 01, 2016, 15:00 (3154 days ago) @ MattG
The Musee d'Orsay is already the best museum in Paris, but they also have a kids' tour. Well worth it.
Bois de Vincennes, specifically the Parc Floral

It's a little bit of a hike but it's worth it. East side of Paris, huge public park with a pretty big botanical gardens inside it, and a gigantic play ground spread over a big area. There is a ropes course with multiple zip lines that your son is probably big enough to do. You can rent bikes and ride all over too. On weekends they have concerts at the pavilion.
lots of open air markets
by Jay , San Diego, Monday, August 01, 2016, 14:56 (3154 days ago) @ MattG
There's a bird market on Sundays on the Île de la Cité. Most days it's a flower market but on Sundays they have lots of birds in cages. Kids love it.
playground at jardins du Luxemboug
by Jay , San Diego, Monday, August 01, 2016, 14:54 (3154 days ago) @ MattG
The entire jardins is great but the kids' playground is exceptional. Small entry fee, multiple play structures over a big area along with a cool zip line. Old timey carousel right next to it, with the old timey "brass ring" game. Also a marionette theater with shows on the weekends.
first stop: hit the Plages
by Jay , San Diego, Monday, August 01, 2016, 14:52 (3154 days ago) @ MattG
They truck in tons of sand and create a summertime "beach" along the north side of the Seine, running from the Hotel de Ville to the Louvre. Free entry. Free bike rentals for kids (training wheels available). Gelatto stands every 20 feet. It's awesome.
