My (unrealistic) hope for covid

is that people better understand that government policies matter, that in democracies the populace must take responsibility for their actions. At any given time, we are 30 minutes away from destroying civilization. It would take a low-probability event, but over 100 years there's a decent probability of a nuclear conflict.

We focus all of our energy on things that just don't matter, when compared to the possibility of the end of civilization. We pretend that the end of the Cold War ended the possibility of nuclear conflict. I wish that nuclear weapons received 10% the interest of climate change.
