There is a hidden bar in Bruges. Here's how to find it.

The bar is called "Staminee De Garre". It may be the best bar in the world, and I'm not kidding.

It's also so well-hidden that you may as well be trying to find Diagon Alley.

BUT FIRST, go to *De Halve Maan* brewery. It's where they make "Strong Henrik", it's an ancient brewery, and it was an awesome tour.

They're currently trying to build in pipelines through the ancient city to pump beer to a distribution point miles away, to cut down on the truck traffic - that is probably a pretty cool thing to see, too.

THEN - Go to Staminee De Garre. It is damn near impossible to find - you have to go into an unmarked open doorway, down an unmarked alley past a bunch of bikes, then through a huge unmarked wooden door.

Their house beer is a Trippel that is considered to be one of the best anywhere, and their beer list is long, varied, and tends to be from monasteries.

You are basically in the center of a city block, and then you go upstairs and you can see the town square! It's awesome.

But you may walk past it 15 times and never find it.

Beers to sample in Belgium: Rochefort 6-8-10, and while they're available elsewhere, Duvel/Orval/Chimay/etc.
