Shumate is just an enigma. You're right that he played pretty well earlier this season. Sometimes he looks like a future first-round pick. But he was abysmal against Northwestern. Worse than Collinsworth, worse than Tranquill. I'm sure it's partly a coaching issue, but it's mostly a "What exactly is going on in his head?" issue.
