Louisville does have some stuff going for it

Definitely agree its basketball first. However, Papa John's stadium seems too nice for them to tolerate bad football for too long. In general, Louisville really has first class facilities for athletics.

At a minimum, seems like a job that could be valued as a stepping stone for hot coaches (John L Smith, Petrino, and Strong all passed through there).

Louisville actually has a pretty decent high school football scene starting to blossom as well. Strong did a lot to build a pipeline to Florida and I wouldn't be surprised to see Louisville fulfill sort of a Texas Tech or OK State type of overflow option for football talent for the South.
